Sr RB Troy Leigber was effectively a one-man wrecking crew running for over 100 yards scoring on runs of 12, 44 and 18 and an 18-yard pass reception to lead Laguna Hills High School to a 35-0 halftime lead over the Trojans at Fri night University High School.

Leigber also had an 80-yard punt return score called back on a penalty. 6-0 and ranked Laguna Hills spoiled 2-4 Uni’s Homecoming en route to a 42-0 victory.

Laguna Hills only had the ball for 17 of the 48 minutes, but that was enough to amass 273 yards, 175 of which were on the ground. Laguna Hills had 16 first downs on the evening.

Uni had 10 first downs including 7 in the air on some nice pass plays. The Trojans finished with 127 yards passing finding 7 different receivers. Jr Koa Saito was 13 for 24 for 92 yards throwing his first interception of the year. Soph Zach Malek was 4 for 6 for 35 yards leading the team on a 4th quarter, 12-play, 62-yard drive ending in a 45-yard field game-ending goal attempt by Jr Skye Murphy.

Jr Blaine Anderson had 5 catches for 28 yards to go along with 69 yards in kick returns (one for 49 yards) and a pass break up. Jr Jonathan Soto caught 4 passes for 38 yards (3 for first downs) and a pair of tackles. Soto also had a 45-yard kickoff return that was reduced due to a penalty.

On defense Soph DB Damari Carter and Jr LB Jai Williams were active on defense with 5 and 4 tackles, respectively.

Coach Vince Mesa says, “It will be back to the drawing board for our next game vs. Northwood.” The game will be played at Uni, Fri, Oct-7.
